RESTORE Rescue

For people who have had ketamine therapy at another clinic or hospital and did not get a significant benefit, or whose benefit did not last.

Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic. It is not FDA-approved for depression, anxiety, PTSD, or chronic pain, and its use for those conditions is off-label. Individual results vary and cannot be predicted in advance.

Who it is for

A course that did not work elsewhere is not the end of the question

If you have been through a course of ketamine at another clinic or hospital and did not get the benefit you were hoping for — or the benefit came and then did not hold — it is reasonable to conclude the drug does not work for you. Sometimes that is the right conclusion, and we will say so.

But not always. A course can fall short for reasons that have nothing to do with whether ketamine can help you — the dose, the schedule, something on your medicine list, or a metabolic or genetic factor that was never measured. Those are checkable.

The first work is on the record of what has already been tried.

We will tell you before you commit whether we think there is anything to find. If your previous course was well conducted and thoroughly worked up, we will say that too, and we will not take you on.

What is different

Why this course costs more than Essential

The infusions are the same three over three days. What differs is the work before them, and there is considerably more of it.

Full review of your previous ketamine treatment, your records and prior laboratory studies
Baseline scoring on validated depression, anxiety and pain scales
Metabolic and hormonal studies, with further testing where indicated
Pharmacogenomic testing where the result would change the plan — ordered and billed independently
A full medicine review, and a conversation with your prescriber where something may interfere
Three sequential infusions, each dosed to a measured target concentration and adjusted to your response to the last
A physician present for the whole of every infusion, with continuous monitoring
Reassessment between infusions and afterward, on the same scales

What we can and cannot tell you

Some people who did not respond to a previous course do respond here, and some do not. We cannot tell you in advance which you will be, and anyone who says otherwise is guessing.

What we can tell you, before you spend anything, is whether there is a plausible reason your last course fell short. That conversation happens at the consultation, and it is the point of the program.

If we cannot find a reason, we will say so.

A thorough previous course with nothing obviously missed is a reason to be cautious about trying again, not a reason to book you in.

Straight talk

What this program is not

It is not a second opinion on the clinic that treated you, and we will not offer one. We look at what was done and whether anything is worth changing, not at who did it.

And it is not for our own patients. If a course here has not worked, we re-evaluate rather than re-sell: we look again at whether something was missed, whether we need further information or testing, and whether anything in the plan should change. If every base has been covered, we take that up with you and with your physician or psychiatrist, and the conversation turns to what other avenues might help you — including ones we do not provide.

It is not a cure, and it is not a replacement for the psychiatrist or prescriber you already have. And it is not a guarantee that a different approach will work — only that the things that can be checked will be.
