Conditions We Treat

Physician with patient at the Ketamine Research Institute

Conditions we treat — and conditions we do not

Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic. It is not FDA-approved for depression, anxiety, PTSD, or chronic pain, and its use for those conditions is off-label. Individual results vary and cannot be predicted in advance.

Mood conditions

Treatment-resistant depression, bipolar depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the exhaustion and demoralization state commonly described as burnout. These are the conditions with the strongest evidence base for ketamine and they are the majority of our practice.

Treated with RESTORE Essential, or with RESTORE Rescue if a previous ketamine course has not worked.

Chronic neuropathic pain

Chronic neuropathic pain

Fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, complex regional pain syndrome, and some migraine presentations. Here the infusion is formulated differently — a higher-concentration ketamine and magnesium preparation — because the pain literature and the mood literature point at different dosing.

Treated with RESTORE Advanced.

Conditions we are asked about and do not treat

We are regularly asked about Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, multiple sclerosis, and post-viral syndromes including long COVID. Ketamine has been studied in some of these. The evidence is preliminary and we do not offer treatment for them. If you have seen a clinic advertising ketamine for a neurodegenerative condition, ask them what trial they are relying on.

We also do not offer ketamine for substance use disorders or opioid withdrawal.

We would rather turn away an enquiry than take money for something the evidence does not support.
